I know that this is more of a food blog and I am sorry for doing this to you. I will however hide it so you don’t HAVE to look at it.

My fellow Americans,

Very few things make me actually hostile… Bad service, I can deal with, bad food I can deal with, daily traffic jams due to morons that can’t figure out how to merge, I can deal with. I have been almost run off the road, I have had my things stolen from my house… Money stolen from accounts… I have even been sued (and lost), yet I remained in relative control of myself.

Senator Ben Nelson, brushing aside what the majority of his constituents wanted, being the DECIDING VOTE, voted to slam duck this health care reform bill before the end of the year. He was the deciding vote to SHOVE this bill down our throats. For that Ben Nelson: you should be ashamed of yourself.

Let me clarify something before some of you go ape on me: I am FOR healthcare reform. I am shelling out a ton of cash per month for the worst insurance I have ever had. It needs to happen. What I am upset about is HOW it happened. It is a single party’s agenda and they steamrolled it through before they possibly lose control of the house and the senate. They were put there to do the will of the people and the vast majority of the people don’t want this as it is now. Oh yes, the people want reform, they desperately crave reform, they DESERVE reform, but not at the expense of sanity and rational, logical change. This, bill should honestly be written by members of ALL parties and be pushed as not a bi-partisan bill, but a bill by all parties, for everyone, BY everyone… Remember “for the people, by the people”?

It is rushed, it is ugly, and my fellow Americans, I feel that we are all screwed somehow.
May blessings be upon you and your families over this holiday season.

    Hi there,

I can fully understand your position on this. I do want you to know something I learned while in DC last week. After receiving the ‘sweet deals’ that only NE got for Nelson’s vote, he was still hesitant because he knew that the constituents wouldn’t be happy. This is when the sweet offers turned to threats. Nelson was threatened and Offutt AFB was the subject of threat. Nelson was told if he didn’t vote yes, the government would shut Offutt and all entities of STRATCOM down. Nelson knew the problems that would arise if this happened, so he voted yes. This is why he was forced to vote yes.

  2. Kristina,

If they tried to force him, then he should have outed them for being the back stabbing and deceitful toads that they are. The Democratic party was willing to HURT the people of this state to get what they wanted. He should have walked away from the party and publically embarrassed them and then changed parties. He would have proven himself to the people of Nebraska. He would have cemented himself into the hearts and minds of the people of this state not as a sell out that we now believe him to be, but as a hero that fought for what is right. He has effectively taken a big hit to his political career.
I don’t know if he will recover.

We live in strange times and honestly, I fear for our nation… I am hoping that with the upcoming elections next year we can undo the damage that has been done.

Let’s return this nation to a common sense approach to life.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I appreciate your idealistic point of view, but a “bi-partisan bill” equals no reform. As much as I loath political parties, I have to root for the democrats here. As an independent voter I’ve watch this heath care reform process from the beginning and I find it very telling that republican efforts have focused on defeating the opposing party’s initiatives rather than proposing or offering alternative ideas on reform. All the republican sound bites and PR are talking about how bad it is, and not about what might work better. This tells me beyond a small hand full, the majority of republicans aren’t interested in health care reform. It may be rushed and it may not be perfect, but it would be considerably better than what we have now. Health care reform has been attempted unsuccessfully many times in the last sixty years. If this is a one shot deal, why not take it as a start to what could be improved upon later? Or do we squabble for another sixty years with the asinine pre-existing system we have now? If this is defeated now and there’s a swing in power in the upcoming elections do you really think the republicans will reintroduce health care reform and do it the “right way”?

  4. You know what though? Regardless, since the bill seems to be dead at this point thanks to the election of Scott Brown, I am SOOO very tired of seeing Ben’s ads all over the place. I really don’t care what he wants us to believe Warren Buffet would have done! I DON’T CARE! I now, more than ever, just want Ben Nelson to GO AWAY.

Ben is a political toad. As is everyother Democrate that follows Mr. Obama. I don’t know whether the European system of healthcare is better than ours or not. I do know that my best friends grandmother left Itatly for three weeks to have a procedure done here. Do any of you actually know someone who went to europe to have something fixed? Didn’t think so. You want to make the health care industry cheaper and easier? Kill the next politician and or attorny you meet. Every dead attorny feeds an additional $250,000 into the econamy at my last calculation that means if we kill off 4 million attornys we will be out of debt tomorrow.
